The ones people
actually ask
Everything below is the honest answer rather than the flattering one — including the things we don't do yet.
Frequently asked questions
Do my guests have to install anything?
No. The QR code opens a gallery in whatever browser is already on their phone. There's a native app if they want one, but it's never a requirement to see or download their photos.
Do my guests need an account?
To download or favourite, yes — but it's a light one and there's no password. They enter a phone number or email address, we send a 6-digit code, and first-timers pick whether they're a guest or a photographer. That account is also what their face match is attached to, so their photos are still theirs on a different phone. Browsing a share link needs no account at all.
Can I control who downloads what?
Yes, per event. Watermark the images guests browse, switch downloading off entirely, or put the album behind a PIN. Access itself lives in the share link — one tier shows a guest only themselves plus your highlights, the other opens the whole album to the family.
What happens to guests' face data?
A selfie is turned into a mathematical embedding and saved to your account — one selfie, not one per event. It's what finds you in the events you join or host, so you're never asked for a new one. It's only ever matched against photographs in events you're actually part of, it isn't sold, and removing it stops you being matched anywhere and deletes the matches it made.
How accurate is the face matching?
Good enough that guests stop scrolling, and deliberately tuned to include a borderline frame rather than hide one. A guest can always browse the full album if the host has opened it, so a missed match is never a lost photo.
Can more than one photographer upload to the same event?
Yes. Useful for races and multi-day weddings, where different people cover different parts of the day.
Can I use my own branding instead of yours?
Yes, on every plan. Studio name, monogram and logo appear across the gallery, share pages and the printable QR poster. Host-run events without a studio fall back to FotoLama branding.
Do you support video?
Not yet — FotoLama is photos only today. We'd rather say so plainly than let you find out after your first shoot. It's on the roadmap.
What if the venue Wi-Fi drops mid-upload?
Uploads are resumable. Reconnect and it picks up from where it stopped rather than starting the folder again. The desktop uploader for Windows and Mac handles multi-thousand-photo shoots without keeping a browser tab alive.
Is it priced in rupees?
Yes — flat annual or monthly plans in ₹, with 18% GST shown at checkout. The plan covers your year; you're not buying per-photo credits in order to shoot. See the five plans.
What if one event goes over my photo limit?
Top up: ₹100 adds 1,000 photos to whatever plan you're already on. It's there so a single unusually large wedding doesn't force a tier upgrade, and the photos don't expire while the plan is active.
Still deciding?
Start free and run one event through it. That answers more than a page of copy.
